Kathy's Story

Demonstrate what kind of person you are

A friend of mine who recently became engaged is an excellent example. When Kathy was younger she made some terrible choices, starting with a man who beat her badly. She finally got away from him and “moved up” to men who only abused her emotionally, not physically.

She programmed for guidance... she thinks of it as praying. I was also using the MentalVideo to help obtain guidance from higher intelligence so that she would find the right person... if he existed. And she got wonderful guidance. Sometimes we had to help her analyze and understand it.

For instance, she prayed to find out if a man she had been dating was serious about her. She emailed him and asked him if he wanted to get together and do something that weekend.

He emailed her back and said he wanted to get away by himself for the weekend and think about his life and what he wanted for the future.

“What does that mean?” she asked.

“It means just what it says,” I told her: “It means that he is making decisions about his future and you are not involved.”

After a couple of days, she finally accepted the fact that it meant that his thoughts about the future didn’t include her. And she moved on.

Eventually her intuition guided her to a church - she had never belonged to a church before - and she found a singles group there that was perfect for her. It served as a wonderful support group for her. She was very active, contributing a lot to the group, and benefitting greatly from it.

She continued dating, but without expectations. “If the right one comes along, that’s great,” she said, “but I’m not expecting it.” I continued including her in my MentalVideos, too.

She joined the local volunteer fire department, as one more way to do something to help her community. And when the associate pastor, who was the advisor to the singles group, asked her to help him out with his high school class reunion, she readily agreed. He was from a town a couple of hundred miles away.

However, the church decided they were short of money, so they let the associate pastor go. He quickly found a job in another state. Later, when it was time for his high school class reunion, he emailed and asked if she was still planning to come to his old hometown and help him.

“I didn't really want to,” she said, “I was working hard, and was preparing to go to the Fire Fighters Academy for a week, but he is a nice man who tries to help people, so I told him I'd be there.”

Meanwhile, one of Lance's high school classmates, who still lives in their hometown, was also reluctant to go. But some of his friends encouraged him to attend, so he did. Kathy noticed him, just standing around, so she asked Lance who he was.

While sitting there at the registration table next to Lance, Kathy asked, "Why's that guy over there, in the cowboy hat?" She likes cowboys.

Lance told her that was one of his classmates, David. She went over and introduced herself to David. They hit it off immediately, and Kathy stayed a couple of days extra to get to know David better. The next weekend David came to Austin to visit Kathy. The following weekend she went to visit him. After a few weekends of that, Kathy decided to move. She got an apartment to live in, and saw David every day.

They were married in March 2005, with Lance officiating. He thinks that he is the one responsible for bringing his old classmate and his best friend Kathy together. In a way he is, because he was used by higher intelligence to get Kathy to the right place at the right time.

Kathy has always wanted to be in a loving relationship... and now she is. Isn't it interesting that all those years she tried and tried, all she got was heartache and grief... not to mention bruises and concussions.

Then when she began to focus on finding out what higher intelligence wants her to do with her life, and taking action to help people, to correct problems, and to improve conditions wherever and however she could, then “all else was added unto her.”

“Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven.” She learned the Silva course 15 years ago, and used it in the context of prayer to seek - and follow - the guidance from “the Lord,” to use her terminology. We use the term “higher intelligence.”

“Function within God’s righteousness.” Even while working full time, and later with her own home business, she still found time to help those who asked, without reservation, without judgment. She gave rides to those who needed them, she brought people into her apartment when they needed a place to stay, she was the first to volunteer to help with church activities.

And she kept dating and waiting to see if she'd ever find someone. Yes, she wanted to find someone, but she also realized that if it was not meant to be, then she'd continue on with her life and do what she could to make the world a better place to live.

“And all else shall be added unto you.” Was that one last test from higher intelligence, to put herself out when it was inconvenient and she didn't particularly want to do it?

Or was it just a part of the totality of her life, that made it easier for higher intelligence to bring the two of them together?

Juan Silva told us about the time that he and his brother Jose was experimenting to see if they could program Juan to be an inventor. They had done their programming, and Juan was sitting, thinking, waiting for something “to come” to him, when his step father pulled him up out of the chair and shoved him towards the machine shop they had and told him to get to work.

Juan started turning a rod on a lathe, just to be doing something. Then he noticed that he was creating a “rack gear.” And then the thought came to him... that a rack gear was the perfect thing to use to operate a vending machine for use in Mexico. He got his invention, and it earned him a lot of money.

“Once you get up and get into action and start moving around,” he told us, “there’s a much better chance that the solution will bump into you.”

That’s exactly what happened with Kathy. She was up moving around, doing things. She was “functioning within God’s righteousness,” so she was being noticed by higher intelligence. So when the opportunity presented itself, higher intelligence got the two of them together.

If she had just be thinking of herself - rather than doing the things that higher intelligence sent her here to do - then higher intelligence wouldn't have been paying attention to her, they would have been busy with someone else who was doing the work they want done.

Jose Silva’s research - and a lifetime of experience - convinced him that life is not made up of a bunch of isolated incidents. And it is not about how to make ourselves happy.

“We were sent here for a purpose,” he said. And when we are striving to fulfill that purpose, then “all else shall be added unto us.”

That’s why the very last thing we say in the course each day... the final statement, used at the very end of the last conditioning cycle that we use each day, says:

“You will continue to strive to take part in constructive and creative activities to make this a better world to live in, so that when you move on, you will have left behind a better world for those who follow.

“You will consider the whole of humanity, depending on their ages, as father or mothers, brothers or sisters, sons or daughters.

“You are a superior human being; you have greater understanding, compassion, and patience with others.”

Notice that you are not required to succeed at every effort you make... nobody does. But you are expected to continue to make every effort you can to improve conditions on the planet... without any expectation of compensation. Your needs will be met. Maybe you'll give far more than you receive... so what! Your needs will be met.

These are new and different ideas from what we've been taught in the past. Not everyone understand them, not everyone accepts them. We submit them for your consideration; the choice is yours.
